ICC to offer free manufacturing course

EAST PEORIA, Ill. -- Attention aspiring manufacturing students: Illinois Central College is offering a free nine-week class for those interested in the field this spring.

ICC officials say the class will highlight the success manufacturing and construction in central Illinois and what careers are available. Additionally, they say students will learn how to improve English, math, reading, computer science and social science skills.  

The course will also offer guest speakers from manufacturing, as well as tours of local companies.

Classes will meet February 11 through April 11 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon at the ICC South Campus, 225 Hanna Drive in Pekin.

To qualify, applicants should have a high school diploma or be working toward obtaining their GED and express an interest in a manufacturing career.  Reading placement tests are required and the deadline for scheduling one is February 5, 2013.
