IDOT employee injured in equipment explosion

TOWANDA, Il. -- An employee was injured after a hydraulic tank exploded Friday at the Illinois Department of Transportation maintenance facility in Towanda.

Crews were called to the scene around 8:45 Friday morning. The tank was burning upon arrival, the fire was contained within 10 minutes.

Firefighters from Hudson, Lexington, and Normal assisted. The Bloomington HAZMAT were called to contain materials leaked from the tank.

The injured worker was transported to OSF St. Joseph's Hospital. There is no information on his condition at this time.
