Mother nature may have cooled down, but IDOT crews are still working to clean up the mess left behind.
One of the effects of last week's extreme heat wave was pavement buckling across the state.
About 24 incidents have been reported so far, with about three of those being in central Illinois.
IDOT officials say motorist should be on the lookout for more problems as temperatures rise.
"They can just happen and it's not something that's predicable. Just be alert, be aware while you're driving and let us know if you see any problems out there," said IDOT spokesperson Brian Williamsen.
IDOT says if you a driving and see any sort of problems on the road to call either the police at 911 or call IDOT at 1-800-452-IDOT.
