NORMAL, Ill. -- Illinois State University announced Thursday the launch of a new free application called Bird Watch, which gives security tips and updates on mobile devices.

The Bird Watch mobile app provides students, faculty, staff and the community with security information about Illinois State.

Users can access a number of resources on topics that include emergency management, crime statistics and crime prevention.

ISU says the app is part of a larger campus-wide crime prevention program, based on the success of the national Neighborhood Watch Program.

The Bird Watch app is now available to download for Android and Apple devices at Google Play and iTunes Stores.
