PEORIA, Ill -- Preparations are underway Friday and Saturday for one Peoria organization, and if you're a shish kebab lover, the ITOO Hall is the place to be.

The ITOO Society is gearing up for Shish Kebab Day on Sunday.

Over a dozen members are spending Friday and Saturday rolling up over a thousand pounds of cabbage, dicing up onions, and skewering meat.

But it's about more than just the food.

"Every year we host a number of charitable events. Two years ago, we hosted here 50 events. Last year, we hosted 73 for the Peoria community; the money we make goes back into the Peoria community and has been for years," said ITOO Member Carl Williams.

Shish kebab day runs from 12:00 until 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the ITOO Hall on Farmington Road.

Tickets are $12 a person.
