SOUTHERN ILLINOIS -- Illinois State police announced Wednesday a major heroin seizure during a routine traffic stop.

Police pulled over an SUV Friday morning on Interstate-55 in southern Illinois.

The driver was acting suspicious, so police called the K9 unit. They found over 5.5 kilos -- $250,000 worth of heroin, hidden in a secret compartment.

The driver admitted the drugs came from Tijuana, Mexico -- and that they were headed to Ohio.
