Peoria, Ill. -- Illinois residents interested in applying for a conceal carry permit now know more of the requirements.

Illinois State Police recently launched its website listing them.

While the website does list the requirements -- it still doesn't give a lot of specific information.

One detail that stood out to some -- the application can only be done online.

Peoria's Mayor Jim Ardis will apply for a permit on January 5th.

He says the online application doesn't bother him, but he realizes it *will* restrict a lot of people.

As for the entire process -- he thinks it could have gone a little smoother.

"It's frustrating. We're the last to approve it. Coming up with the process and procedures shouldn't have been this difficult," said Peoria Mayor Jim Ardis.

A spokesperson for the Illinois State Police says there are sensitive to the fact that not everyone has the ability to apply online.

They are looking into additional options, but stress that applying nline is the fastest way to receive your permit.
