Illinois man identified as victim in Fort Hood shooting

An Illinois man has been identified as one of the victims in Wednesday's deadly shooting at Fort Hood army base in Texas.

Timothy Owens, 37, was stationed Fort Hood and working as a counselor.

He was shot five times at close range in a parking lot as he attempted to calm the gunman.

Owens grew up in Effingham before moving to Missouri.

Suspected shooter Ivan Lopez killed three people and injured at least 16 others before taking his own life.
