BARTONVILLE, Ill. -- Three people escaped serious injury after a car struck a Peoria County squad car Tuesday morning.

Witnesses say the officer was directing traffic when the crash occurred, shortly before 10 a.m. at Route 24 near Route 9.

According to a press release from State Police, the Peoria County Squad was blocking traffic when the driver of a black Chevrolet Impala ran into the rear of the squad car.

53-year-old Kevin Kerker of Bartonville crashed into the rear of the squad car.

Kerker was cited for Failure to Yield to a Stationary Authorized Emergency Vehicle, also known as Scott's Law.

All three people were taken to Methodist Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
