EAST PEORIA, Ill. – James Maughan, 2, was diagnosed with bacterial meningitis in May.

The toddler survived but not before the infection forced doctors to amputate his left leg, right arm and one of the fingers on his left hand.

James is recovering at home with his family.

This weekend, friends and relatives are holding a benefit to raise money to help pay for James’ medical bills.
