Matteson, Ill -- A Bradley University professor and founder of the Peoria chapter of Planned Parenthood dies at the age of 110 on her birthday.

Jane Ising seen in this photo on her 108 birthday died early Thursday morning in her sleep at Applewood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Matteson, Illinois.

Instead of a celebration, her 72 year old son, Thomas, told the residents about her life.

The super-centenarian and her late husband Dr. Ernest Ising, a physics professor at Bradley, lived in Peoria most of their lives after escaping Germany before World War II.

Mrs. Ising taught economics and German.

A memorial service is pending and donations can be made to the Bradley University Ising Scholarship Fund.
