PEORIA, Ill.-- The Mid-West Truck and Trailer show featured a special on Saturday.
Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White was a presenter at the Safe and Courteous awards luncheon at the Peoria Civic Center.
Some of the drivers being honored have never had a moving violation or accident in nearly 50 years of professional driving.
When White first took office in 1999, he made it his top priority to improve the state's commercial driver's license program.
He took the opportunity today to thank truck drivers for being responsible.
White said, “I'm here to really congratulate the truckers for just their ability to get from point 'a' to point 'b' in a safe responsible manner and to continue to transport the products we use here in this wonderful country of ours."
The Secretary of State also reminds all truck drivers that they are no longer allowed to use their cell phones while on the roads in Illinois.
