KEWANEE, Ill. -- The Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board approved Tuesday the Certificate of Exemption application of OSF Healthcare System for a change of ownership of Kewanee Hospital.

The Board of Trustees for Kewanee Hospital and OSF leaders met Friday to chose a new name for the hospital.

The two sides agreed upon the name OSF Saint Luke Medical Center.

OSF says that the name Saint Luke was chosen because of its link to health care and strong history. Saint Luke iss the Patron Saint of Physicians.

Kewanee Hospital will become OSF Saint Luke Medical Center on April 2, 2014 during a blessing and dedication ceremony that will be officiated by Bishop Daniel Jenky.
