PEORIA, IL-- Over 3,600 donated ears of corn were shucked Friday, all for the Saint Jude Shrimp and Corn Boil. Sixteen Heart of Illinois stores were represented at this fun event, which gave store customers and associates a chance to cheer on their favorite manager.
The managers note- it's all for the kids.
St. Jude Board member and Kroger Produce Coordinator Mike Joseph says, "It takes $1.8 million a day to run St. Jude. So it's events like this- every dime counts. Every opportunity counts. It all goes into the big pot. It does the right thing... We're saving a lot of kids right now."
The St. Jude Shrimp and Corn Boil is at the I-too Hall on Farmington Road in Peoria. Each plate includes shrimp, corn, sausage and potatoes, for only $10.
