PEORIA, Ill. -- Kudos are going out to four State Farm employees who sprang into action to save a co-worker who was suffering cardiac arrest. The emergency happened Christmas eve while they were all working.
Brad Reside, one of the four employees, performed CPR until company nurses arrived to assist Ashok Goyal. Using an automated external defibrillator, or AED, the employees administered shocks to Goyal's heart, which helped save his life.
"I was a lot calmer than I thought because I read about it and I knew what would happen. I wasn't really nervous or scared about it until after it was over," he said.
"They saved my life. I'm very thankful to those guys, you know," Goyal said.
Reside says that was the first time he used CPR, which he learned several years ago as a boy scout leader.
February is Heart Health Month.
