CENTRAL ILLINOIS -- As Central Illinois prepare to celebrate Labor Day, there is a big change to Peoria's annual parade this year.

The time has moved up. The parade begins at 10 a.m. in downtown.

A picnic takes place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Riverfront Festival Park.

"Hire Local, Buy Local" is the theme of the McLean County Labor Day parade. It begins at 10 a.m. in downtown Bloomington and ends in Miller Park.

Galesburg's parade also starts at 10 Monday morning at Chambers Street and ends at the courthouse.

It is the nation's second-oldest consecutively running Labor Day Parade.
