WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Representatives and Senators from Illinois who worked to get a water infrastructure bill passed are pressing Governor Pat Quinn to act quickly.

Representatives Cheri Bustos (D-IL) and Rodney Davis (R-IL) and Senators Mark Kirk (R-IL) and Dick Durbin (D-IL) co-sponsored the water infrastructure bill which President Obama signed last week.

“We can’t wait decades to make the changes that are needed now to our water infrastructure,” the members wrote in a joint statement. “We must work together to complete these projects as soon as possible at the best cost possible.”

The bill would use private-public partnerships to improve the locks and dams along the Illinois and Mississippi Rivers. The Army Corps of Engineeers would work with private companies to reduce their overall costs.
