The Susan G. Komen For The Cure foundation underwent a shakeup on Wednesday when Komen president Liz Thompson announced she would be leaving the organization in September.
Peoria native and Komen founder and CEO Nancy Brinker will be shifting into a new management role. Two members of the board of directors also announced they would be leaving.
The shakeup comes after a controversial decision in January to cut funding from Planned Parenthood. Komen was blasted for the decision, and reversed its position days later.
