PEORIA, Ill. -- The Peoria Public Library Board of Trustees is moving forward in its search for a new Library Director.

In December, the board dismissed its director, Ed Szynaka, over a personal matter. Szynaka served as the library's director for six years.

During that time he played an integral role in the renovation of all the library's branches and the building of a new branch.

Thursday, the board of trustees will meet to discuss what the library now needs in a new director.

"Our total emphasize now is on customer service. Whether that be reference questions, whether that be traditional books or DVDs or whatever the case may be and that's what we're looking for," said Linda Daley, President, Board of Trustees for Peoria Public Library.

Anyone interested in applying for the position should contact the Peoria Public Library's human resources department.
