PEORIA HEIGHTS, Ill. -- A local chef is getting some national recognition.
Josh Adams, owner and chef of June restaurant in Peoria Heights, is the winner of Food and Wine magazine's "People's Choice" for the best new chef in the Great Lakes area.
Adams competed against nine other chefs from areas such as Chicago and Indianapolis for the title.
He credits his success to the wide variety of fresh, locally grown food available in the area.
"That's the great thing about being in this area. It's a great, agricultural rich are. A lot of farms in this area supply restaurants, like nationally acclaimed restaurants in Chicago," said June Chef and Owner, Josh Adams.
Adams opened June in 2009.
The restaurant is open Tuesdays through Saturdays starting at 5 p-m.
