PEORIA, Ill. -- Several local motorcycle clubs are doing their part to help support veterans.

Members of Peoria Motorcycle Club, Quiet Pride, and other groups showed up for a fundraiser at Veterans Pub and Pizza on North East Adams.

A portion of the money from the tickets sold for an upcoming event go towards the Greater Peoria Honor Flight.

The free trip to Washington D.C. to visit memorials honoring their service is something one biker says all veterans deserve.

"They're giving up so much for us to be free," said Ron Hawotte. "To come out here and throw some money at the event and support them and honor them this way is the least we can do."

The upcoming event is Stars of Tomorrow and Heroes of Today on Sunday, July 13.

If you're interested in volunteering for the Greater Peoria Honor Flight, you can contact them at 309-397-6975 or go to their website www.greaterpeoriahonorflight.org.
