EAST PEORIA, Ill. -- Whether its getting rid of old junk or trying to make a buck... hundreds of homes and businesses came together Saturday to participate in the annual East Peoria Springfield Road community garage sales.
The event brought in thousands of people looking for deals which is good news for local businesses.
This year Joanne Thomason, owner of Jay Cee's Salon invited vendors to set up in her parking lot to gain exposure.
"As a small business owner I wanted to help them also to expand their business, make some money just like everyone is looking to do," said Thomason. "They come from I know Bloomington, Chillicothe. You know just looking to meet some new people and sell their products."
Thomason said the response was so positive this year, she plans on hosting vendors again next year.
