PEORIA, Ill. -- He has risen. That was the message heard was across the world on Easter Sunday.

Those at Riverside Church in Peoria celebrated with the theme "He holds the keys."

Hundreds gathered at the church to worship and sing praises about the Christian belief in the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Afterwords church members at Riverside spoke to us about the importance of Easter.

"It's perhaps the most important holiday of the year," said Riverside Community Church pastor John King. "It's the most important day of the year where we celebrate the rising again of Jesus from the dead. It's at the center of our faith and our belief."

"To know that my Lord has died and risen from the dead and he did that for me," said Michael Craps, "to give me a path to God himself."

"People are lost and they are looking for the answers because we are at a time where there is so much evil and destruction," said Marilyn Tompkins, "and there has to be a place to put your heart and that is with Jesus."
