MORTON, Ill. -- Family Circle Magazine has named the village of Morton as one of the Ten Best Towns for Families. The annual list is based on affordable housing, green public spaces, strong school systems and neighbors you can count on.

The article includes a mention of a good deed in the community and highlights the Morton Basketball team's "Dribble to Children's Hospital" earlier this year that raised over $20,000.

Mayor Ron Rainson says the national attention is great for his community.

"I think it's always nice to get recognition for something you thought you were, but this sort of confirms it- when you see that nationally you are recognized," Mayor Rainson said. "I think we already knew it, we've had more housing starts than all the other communities in the area. It's because people spot this town and they come here and they want to stay. It's going to bring more people into town and we've got the room."

Carol Jankowski, Morton District 709 Communications Coordinator, added "This is a community where kids can still ride their bikes to the Morton pool or downtown to Dairy Queen. It's a family friendly community all the way around.

The Top ten list will be featured in the August issue of Family Circle, which hits news stands on July 2nd.
