GALVA, Ill. -- A local drive-in is under the threat of extinction if an upgrade isn't made soon. But thankfully there is something you can do to help.

The Galva Autoview Drive-in in Galva needs to update how it shows its films or else it will have to go out of business.

The drive-in currently runs 35 millimeter film, but needs to upgrade to digital.

A new digital projector costs around $75,000

But you can help the Galva Autoview Drive-In win a new projector by voting for the theater in the "Save an American Icon" contest.

The top 5 vote getters will be given a new digital system to keep them in business.

The contest ends in just two weeks on Friday, September 9th.

You can vote everyday for the theater.

To vote, visit the drive-in's website, galvaautovue.com, ProjectDriveIn.com/vote_50, or text VOTE50 to 444999.
