PEORIA, Ill -- Local women are strutting their stuff, while showing support for the Go Red for Women movement.

Thursday evening, 16 models dressed to the nines walked the catwalk for the Red Dress Fashion Show.

HOI 19's very own Gretchen Wirtz emceed the event.

Attendees got a little lesson on heart disease risks and warning signs.

Melissa Chrisman, Corporate Events Director with the American Heart Association urges women to talk to a doctor if they feel anything out of the ordinary.

"The symptoms for heart disease in women are a lot different than men. They're not the clutching of the chest, falling to the ground dramatic symptoms. A lot of times women confuse their symptoms with other ailments that they think will just go away. So we know our bodies better than anyone else. If you feel like something is wrong, go check it out. It won't hurt anything," said Chrisman.

All the money raised Thursday night will go to the American Heart Association for research and community education.
