CANTON, Ill. -- A Canton teenager is pursuing her dream of fame on a legendary stage in the Windy City.

Heather Green, 15, will perform Thursday night at the Chicago House of Blues.

She is one of six Illinois high school students chosen to showcase their talent in a contest.

The country singer began playing the guitar at the age of nine and wrote her first song at 10.

Taking advantage of this unique opportunity is her focus.

"The first place winner gets to go to Texas and perform with the qualifying band they had and then they have the record deal thing," she said. "Just to have someone be able to notice me that's big into it."

Heather's CD called "Meant to Be" is available on iTunes and at local stores in Canton.

She will perform three new, original songs not on her album for the event.
