EAST PEORIA, Ill. -- Dress For Success Peoria recognized supporters, as well as women who've received assistance from the organization, at a special luncheon Thursday.
About 120 people attended the Purse and Suit of Happiness event at Stoney Creek Inn in East Peoria.
Dress For Success provides professional clothing to women trying to enter the workforce, free of charge. The organization's director says the program has made a big difference in the lives of many working women.
"Dress For Success Peoria starts with clothing but its really about so much more," explained Sarah Fletcher. "The purses and the suits that we give the women that we serve really become tools as they are on their journey to independence and self sufficiency. They really as our belief that all of the women that we serve can succeed."
Dress For Success Peoria has given away over 5,000 pieces of clothing and served about 1,700 women in the Peoria area.
