Lock down in Washington after chemical spill

WASHINGTON, Ill. -- A chlorine leak at the Washington Water Treatment Plant has led to the area being locked down.

Mayor Gary Manier and Fire Chief Mike Vaughn both say no one is in any danger, but Peoria HazMat has been called in to clean up the spill.

The Water Treatment Plant is behind the Tractor Supply Company near Cummins Lane and Washington Road.

Many of the roads in that area have been blocked off while the clean up work is being done.
