PEORIA, Ill -- Many people impacted by this spring's floods are still dealing with the clean-up and re-building process and will continue to do so for some time still.

World Church Services held a disaster recovery workshop Friday to discuss the long-term needs here in Central Illinois.

The international organization coordinates with the American Red Cross. Together they set up recovery teams that help those in need or those who's assistance has run out.

"Committees help organize construction management, emotional and spiritual care, volunteer management and re-building efforts to put people back in homes that are safe, sanitary and functional," said Barry Shade with Church World Services.

Organizers said the biggest needs here are basement repairs and mold remediation.

They encourage anyone seeking help to start with the Red Cross.
