CHICAGO, Ill -- According to the Chicago Tribune, Bears Head Coach Lovie Smith has been fired after nine seasons.
The Bears started the 2012 season with a 7-1 record, but missed the playoffs after losing five of their last eight games.
This is the second season in a row that a late season collapse has cost the Bears a playoff spot.
The Bears organization has now started its search for a new coach.
