CHICAGO, IL. -- Granddad turned 80 years old today. Granddad is a lungfish and resident of the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago.

He is the oldest lungfish in capitivity. He is also the oldest fish in any aquarium, anywhere.

Grandad which wasn't his name when he came to Chicago in 1933, was a gift from Australia during the world's fair.

Actually, he's at least 80, no one knows how old he is.

His excercise regimen consists of rising to the surface every 25 minutes to breather.

He now has four other langfish for companions and breeding attempts have been made.

But so far Grandad hasn't sired anyone, so the name is strictly honorary.
