BLOOMINGTON, Ill.-- A man is dead after a traffic accident Thursday night.

The autopsy shows 73-year-old Leon Forristall died of multiple blunt force injuries.

Forristall, who is from Urbana, was crossing in the 1300 block of East Grove street around 8 Thursday night when he was hit by a car.

McLean County Coroner Beth Kimmerling says he was taken to OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington where he was pronounced dead around 9:30 that night.

She says Forristall was in town for business and was walking to his car when he was hit.

He was wearing dark clothing and police say oncoming traffic lights may have prevented him from being seen.

Bloomington Police Department Public Affairs Officer Dave White said, "It's just an unfortunate incident. But when we're walking. When we're crossing the street we need to just take a moment and gage how quickly those headlights are moving as they're coming towards us."

Police say that alcohol was not a factor in the incident.
