Man apologizes after breaking into the wrong home

PEORIA, Ill. -- Peoria police are investigating a Monday incident in which a home invader broke into the wrong residence.

The 26-year-old victim said that she was asleep with her children at her residence on the 900 block of W. Nowland Ave. when she heard a door open at approximately 4:30 a.m.

The victim said she saw what she described as a "larger" black male wearing all black standing at the door.

The victim said that the man said to her "Oh, I thought Trina lived here. Sorry." She said the suspect the shut the door and left.

Police say that nothing was taken from the residence, but her screen door was damaged during the break in.
