Man arrested for Peoria homicide

PEORIA, Ill -- One man is arrested Saturday night in connection to the Peoria's third homicide of the year. Peoria Police made the arrest late Saturday afternoon.

Dieuseul Brown, 25, of Peoria is arrested on a slew of charges, including murder, unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, attempted armed robbery, resisting arrest, home invasion, two counts of aggravated assault, and possession of a controlled substance.

Police found 32-year-old Kelsey Coleman with a single gunshot wound to the back after they were called to 1612 Arago street at 12:30 Friday morning. Coleman was later pronounced dead at a hospital.

Authorities say Coleman was staying at the residence and was on parole on a drug possession charge.

Police say there were six other people in the home during the incident, including four young children.

According to records, Brown had previously been arrested for multiple offenses across the area, including armed robbery and DUI.

Brown is being held at the Peoria County jail and is due in bonding court on Monday.
