BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- Meanwhile, a Bloomington man's efforts to get a new trial will take a giant step in June.

That's when a hearing is scheduled for Barton McNeil, who was convicted in 1998 of the murder of his young daughter, Christina.

McNeil has always maintained he was not guilty.

His case took a turn in 2012, when McNeil's former girlfriend, Misook Wang, was convicted of killing her mother-in-law.

McNeil contends it was Wang who killed his daughter, and is asking for new DNA testing of evidence used in his murder trial.

The "Illinois Innocence Project" at the University of Illinois is supporting McNeil's case.
