PEORIA, Ill. -- One man is running his way through the heart of Illinois, and he still has more then 800 miles to go before he can stop.
Jason Lester is from Hawaii, and when he heard about Hurricane Sandy and the disaster it left behind, he wanted to help.
Lester decided to lace up his running shoes to raise awareness and funds for Hurricane Sandy victims.
His journey started in San Francisco and will end in New York City 3,300 miles across the United States.
"It's is a journey. Everyday, you know, we get up are we run 15 hours a day. It's amazing what the body and mind can accomplish when you're inspired and you have a goal in your mind," said runner, Jason Lester.
Lester says the money he is raising will help to rebuild one home in the New Jersey area.
So far he has raised nearly $18,000 of his $20,000 dollar goal.
