WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- One person is confirmed dead and another is in custody after a shooting at Purdue University in Indiana that had the campus on emergency alert.

Shots were reported around noon inside the electrical engineering building on campus triggering text messages from university officials that everyone on campus should "shelter in place."

The victim is a man, though no other details have yet been released as police continue to try to identify him.

By 1:30 p.m., all buildings on campus were clear, except for the electrical engineering building where the shooting took place. After police took one person into custody, the university tweeted that there was "no ongoing threat."

Purdue University is located in West Lafayette, about 60 miles northwest of Indianapolis. About 40,000 students attend the school.
