NORMAL, Ill. -- Police in Normal, Illinois have not identified a man they said attempted an armed robbery Sunday at a Kroger Store.
Normal Police Chief Rick Bleichner said the would be robber was shot several times by a security guard.
The Chief said the man entered the Kroger store on College Avenue and confronted the security guard shortly after midnight Sunday.
Police later determined the man was carrying a BB gun.
The identity of the wounded man has not been released by authorities.
He's recovering from his injuries at a local hospital.
"At this point, we're not releasing any information on the names because for one, the individual has not been charged yet, hasn't been arrested technically, but he hasn't been charged formally. The other part of it; we're not releasing the name or any information about the security guard because it's still an on-going investigation," said Normal Police Chief Rick Bleichner .
The Kroger store in Normal had been robbed earlier this year on January 29th and February 16th.
Police have not officially said if Sunday's shooting and the two previous robberies are connected.
