PEORIA, Ill. -- The $1,500 a man had recently received in tax refunds was stolen from his home over the weekend, according to police reports.

An unknown suspect broke the glass and unlocked the back door of the victim's home in the 3000 block of W. Seibold Street sometime between 10 a.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. Sunday, according to police.

The cash was stolen from a magazine where it was hidden in a room of the house. The entire room had been ransacked as the suspect searched for the money, the victim told police.

The victim said that nothing else was taken, which led him to believe that the suspect may be someone who knew that he had recently received the money and broke into the home specifically to find the cash, according to police reports.
