PEORIA, Ill. -- A federal judge released a District 150 teacher accused of enticing a minor from federal custody and into the custody of her parents on Monday.
Under the terms of her release, Amanda Ludwig, 28, is on full house arrest and can only leave the residence for medical reasons or for court appearances.
Her case is subject to review by a federal grand jury, which is expected to meet later in February.
Ludwig was arrested on February 1 for allegedly enticing and having sexual relations with a minor.
A criminal complaint states Ludwig was the 15-year-old minor's art teacher at Manual last year, and that they began texting each other a couple of months ago.
The texts reportedly turned sexual in nature, which led to engaging in sexual intercourse in her classroom late last month. According to the report, Ludwig admitted to doing both.
If convicted, Ludwig could face 10 years to life in prison.
