PEKIN, Ill. -- A Tazewell County jury has found Gina Gonzalez guilty of the killing of her mother, Quyen Phan.

Gonzalez had maintained since her arrest that it was her mother who was the aggressor in a fight the two had before Christmas of 2011 at the Marquette Heights home they shared.

Phan, 70, died of head injuries at OSF St. Francis Medical Center on December 23, 2011.

The jury returned with a guilty verdict for Gonzalez on Wednesday afternoon.

She is set to be sentenced on October 17.
