PEORIA, Ill -- Peoria Mayor Jim Ardis is preparing to give his ninth State of the City address Tuesday.
Mayor Ardis said the address will be part review of 2013 and part looking ahead to plans for this year.
His speech will include an outline of the first ever two year budget.
He will also touch on crime issues and what the city is doing that's new.
Mayor Ardis said he will be discussing exciting projects and how the city wants to make it easier to develop new business.
One of the main areas that will continue to grow this year, he said, will be the warehouse district.
"(The city) invested $30 million in the infrastructure, so good things happening in the warehouse district," said Mayor Ardis.
Cal MacKay, president of the Greater Peoria Business Alliance said, "As we develop a warehouse district that has that feel for the young professional, that's going to make recruiting easier, it's going to make retention easier, that will bring in the restaurants and the art galleries and the pubs and all the other things that go along with something like that."
The 14th Annual State of the City Address will be at 11:45 at the Peoria Civic Center on Tuesday.
