EAST PEORIA, Ill. -- East Peoria Mayor Dave Mingus is being honored for his part in making the city a better place.

Tri-County Construction Labor-Management Council (TRICON) and Peoria Area Labor Management (PALM) recognized several Peoria-area union construction professionals and community members during their 26th Annual Awards Dinner, held Tuesday at the Peoria Riverfront Museum.

This year's “Building A Better Community Award” went to Mayor Mingus, the East Peoria City Commissioners, and City Staff who have brought East Peoria's revitalization from a vision to a reality.

The new East Peoria downtown area, now known as the Levee District, includes places such as the new Bass Pro, Costco and Embassy Suites hotel as well as up-and-coming projects like Target, the Clock Tower project, and the new Holiday Inn.
