HEYWORTH, Ill. -- McLean County authorities have found a missing Heyworth girl.

Authorities said a 17-year-old girl, who they are identifying as Brooke Bartelmay, went missing around 9:30 pm after the fireworks ended at Centennial Park, just west of Heyworth.

Police said Bartelmay was found alive around 2 pm in a creek near the park.

She was transported to BroMenn Medical Center to receive treatment.

About 50 individuals from area emergency assessment teams searched the area Friday morning.

Illinois State Police were also on scene with a plane in the air.

Bartelmay's parents said their daughter was recently diagnosed as mildly autistic, and this was not the first time she went missing.

The previous incident, Bartelmay was found in Missouri after running away.

Thursday night, she was last seen by friends after she told them she wanted to be alone.

After not receiving a call from her daughter, the mother, Jane Bartelmay contacted authorities, who put on a full search.

"Normally she doesn't want to be alone," said Jane Bartelmay. "She actually wants to have friends around, but sometimes it is really hard for her to make that bridge. I think she may have gotten emotional. She is very sensitive so maybe somebody said something to her and she walked away."

Jane added that Brooke was not acting out of the ordinary before her disappearance, and it is unclear how she ended up in the creek.
