WHITESIDE CO., Ill. -- Nicholas Sheley is scheduled to stand trial for murder in Whiteside County next month. But the trial is already making headlines, as Quad City media outlets fight for cameras in the courtroom.
Late last month, the Illinois Supreme Court approved the usage of cameras in the 14th Judicial District.
Since then both defense and prosecution attorneys of the Sheley trial have filed objections to ban their usage.
They said cameras will make it impossible for them to find an unbiased, untainted pool of jurors.
Sheley's would be the first murder trial in Illinois with cameras in the courtroom.
A hearing on the motion has been set for Friday morning.
