PEORIA, Ill. -- Medical personnel from Pekin Hospital are traveling to Nicaragua for a medical mission.
Thirty physicians and employees from Pekin Hospital left Friday for San Ramon, Nicaragua.
The team will be serving with an organization called the "Corner of Love."
The purpose is to provide medical relief to people who otherwise would not be able to receive it.
"One of the things that OUR hospital says you know is that we help our community and we help our world. And this is a way to help our world and it is a way for the staff at the hospital to have a common bond and have a camaraderie of being humanitarians," said Cindy Justus of the Pekin Medical Mission.
The employees and physicians from Pekin Hospital will spend five days in clinics where they expect to see 250 patients per day.
