PEORIA, Ill. -- Scores of local motorcyclists are revving up their engines for the children of St. Jude.
Two hundred motorcycle riders are motoring to Memphis as part of the 'St. Jude Rides: Peoria to Memphis' event.
Thursday morning, the riders departed from Walter Brothers Harley-Davidson in Peoria.
It is the 7th year for the ride, which has raised more than $1.8 million.
Event organizer Mike McCoy said it is a thrill to see the event grow each year.
"This is gratifying for all the hard work that everybody puts into it, because you know as we see the success rates go up and the new building going up at St. Jude at tower two and the new rec center that's going up down, there that's going to allow new doctors and doctors from all over the world to come in for research is really a huge thing,” McCoy said.
The St. Jude Memphis to Peoria riders will arrive back in Peoria on Saturday.
The hope to beat last year's fundraising total of $531,000.
