Michelle Obama may be running for Illinois Senator Mark Kirk’s seat in 2016.
Although she has never officially confirmed interest in seeking political office, it is not the first time Obama has been mentioned as a potential senatorial candidate.
In a Thursday article from Reuters, it was suggested that Obama would be the only candidate with a large enough profile to beat Kirk for the Illinois Senate seat.
Recently, the First Lady has lead fundraising and awareness initiatives for U.S. school lunch programs and the kidnappings in Nigeria.
According to a 2012 Public Polling Policy survey, results showed Michelle Obama leading with 51 percent of the vote against Kirk’s 40 percent, should they both run.
