PEORIA, Ill. -- A North Peoria man is safe after he went missing from his home for more than 36 hours.

Tuesday evening, search teams from Peoria, Fulton, Tazewell and McLean county gathered at Northwoods Church to look for 31-year-old Sandip Patel.

Earlier in the afternoon the Peoria Police Department initiated an automated phone call to residents near Patel's home to notify them.

That evening, Patel was found along Route 6, near the Shoppes at Grand Prairie.

"He reportedly takes a walk every morning and this time he took a walk and never came home. We had a problem with a language barrier, he reportedly doesn't speak English. I guess he is fairly new to the country and got lost," said Lt. Mark Molleck of the Peoria County Sheriff's Office.

Patel was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure.
